Reading is Fun!

Happy Friday everyone!

Today we spent a lot of time with reading! The children are loving the new books from the book fair. They love to turn the pages and look at the bright colors on each page. It's a fun way to introduce new words and work on fine motor skills. Ms. Ashley is a big fan of early literacy in the classroom, so we try to spend at least some time each day reading a book or three. Singing songs with your children, simply talking to your children, reading to your children, and teaching sign language can all be types of early literacy. It is also a great way to spend some bonding time with your child.

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Here are some interesting links to help explain why early literacy is so important for infant development and why it is good to introduce to children as early as possible: * http://www.zerotothree.org/early-care-education/early-language-literacy/beginnings-of-literacy.html * http://www.getreadytoread.org/early-learning-childhood-basics/early-literacy/building-literacy-every-day
